America must change it’s consumption habits…

America is the richest country on the planet with more than 25 percent of the world’s GDP (Gross Domestic Product) and only 5 percent of the global population. The problem is that it consumes far more than it produces and has tremendous capacity to borrow. This excessive consumption and borrowing has pushed the value of the dollar down, resulting in price hikes for the essential commodities. Most of the ‘Emerging Economies’ can not afford this price escalation in food and energy, resulting in runaway inflation. With the exception of China, every major economy is feeling the heat of this inflation. Stock markets are spooked and the investor sentiment is very bearish. Major ‘Stock Exchanges’ have lost 20 to 50 percent of their market value, resulting in lower growth around the world. If Americans tell you to mind your own business, tell them that we are doing exactly that. It is very much our business. There is no free lunch available anymore.

The United States of America has a population of more than 300 million people. At least 100 million out of these are semi-illiterate, even if they manage a high school diploma. Around 50 million of these are non-whites but all 100 million have very little employable skills. The State (US Government) spends upward of $600 billion a year on welfare, unemployment, health care and other subsidies. This is simply not sustainable, even by the richest economy in the world. People with comparable skills are available around the world for 10 to 20 percent of their wages. Why would any business pay 500 percent more in a capitalistic country to look patriotic? Traditional trade agreements are under strain to accommodate these outlandish wages and therefore, out of line consumption. Young people on welfare want to live in single family homes and drive decent cars. They eat expensive food, carry cell-phones and have cable TV at home. This life-style is way above the middle-class standard of living in the developing world. Do you think it is fair?

Every four years these 100 million people are called the “Working Class Americans” to get their votes. Does it mean that the rest of us are “Non Working Class”? Politicians, and specially the ‘Democrats’, use their cultivated ‘Pandering 101′ to the hilt and promise hell and heaven to these lazy Americans. No body is willing to tell them the truth, get them to work and teach them to spend within their means. Millions of these working class Americans used to work for factories, driving around fork-lift or some such non-skilled work. These people were being paid anywhere from $50,000 to $100,000 a year for decades. Once these factories moved off-shore, like they moved from Europe to America a century back, these workers were laid off, or simply put, fired. The system provided them with unemployment benefits that were not enough for their life-styles. Most of these became contractors in the construction industry, half of them painters or carpenters. Since most of them were collecting government subsidies, they wanted to be paid in cash. Do you get the picture?
